Abstract
P011 SHEAR WAVE VELOCITY DETERMINATION BY WAVELET CROSS-CORRELATION ANALYSIS OF TUBE WAVES IN VSP DATA Summary 1 In order to estimate the formation’s shear wave velocities from vertical seismic profiling (vsp) data a new signal programming technique based on the wavelet transform and crosscorrelation is developed. The wavelet cross-correlation method (wcr) offers a potential in estimating shear velocities in situations where such velocities are difficult or impossible to measure using known direct methods when shear energy transmission is attenuated or shear wave arrivals are obscured by other type wave arrivals reflected and refracted. The developed method measures the tube (surface)
