Abstract

The droop control method enables the parallel operation of inverters using only variables measured at the inverter connection point to ensure the load power demand sharing among inverters. This method uses the average value of the active and reactive power delivered by the converter to adjust its output voltage and frequency. The conventional power measurement strategy is often based on the voltage-current product followed by low pass filters to extract the average value. In single-phase systems, the instantaneous power components are oscillating at twice fundamental frequency, then a better filtering performance is required. The elimination of double-frequency oscillation from the calculation of these components are obtained by using the enhaced average power calculation (EAPC). This paper focuses on the implementation of the droop control with the EAPC on single-phase inverters that form a microgrid. Results obtained in an experimental setup are presented and a comparison between the EAPC and the classical method is done.
