PRS loaded CDRA forms electromagnetic bandgap resonator antenna (ERA). ERA gives high gain due to presence of multiple reflections between completely reflecting ground plane surface and partially reflecting dielectric surface. Non-uniform phase distribution of electric field over the ERA aperture generally degrades the radiation characteristics of antenna. Abstract
