Abstract

In this paper, a printed ultra-wide band (UWB) antenna with an asymmetric and folded design for partial discharge (PD) detection is presented. Different miniaturization methods have been used in order to facilitate its integration in a harsh and restricted environment like the metallic cavity of medium voltage switchgear. The final antenna dimensions are 122*57*43 mm3. It offers a wide measured bandwidth from 340 to 1750 MHz at -6dB.
