Abstract
The noise in weaving mills has been very large according to increasing speed on the jet loom. The main source of this noise is healds vibration generated in the shedding motion of the loom. It is desired to reduce the heald vibration, in view of both the labor conditions and the quality of produced fabrics. In this report, heald frames equipped with bar magnets are constructed on trial in order to reduce the heald vibration. The noise level are measured, and the heald motion is also observed at the same time by means of a high speed video-camera system. It is found that the disorder of the heald motion during shedding motion decreased by equipment of bar magnets with the heald frames. Then, the sound heard by the human ears seems reduced, but there is no significant difference in the noise level measured by the noise-level meter.
