Abstract
Due to the ongoing energy transition, the need for monitoring solutions in medium-voltage technology is increasing. In this paper, a full-scaled test bed for thermal monitoring of medium-voltage switchgears is presented. The focus of the experiments is on the validation of new sensors and the monitoring solutions they allow. In addition to the existing control system, each switchgear is equipped with a modern data acquisition system. This enables synchronous recording of all measured values and provides all common communication interfaces including communication protocols to read out prototypes of new sensors. In this work, the system is tested in the laboratory, but can be applied in the field without any problems.
