Abstract

A new radar system, Sinusoidal Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave radar is used to estimate azimuth angles of radar targets. It overcomes the defect that the Linear Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave radar fails to determine the azimuth angles of multiple targets at the same distance simultaneously. However, it is more difficult to estimate azimuth angles from this complicated radar echoes than traditional linear frequency modulated radar signals. An effective solution based on Short Time Fourier Transform and Inverse Radon Transform is presented. Simulation results indicate that this method provides robustness to noise and promising azimuth angles estimation performance for several targets at different distances or even at the same distance.
