Because of tendency to reduce the device sizes, increasing the functionality, more complex circuits with higher clock speed is needed. Therefore, EMC compliance is becoming a more difficult task. Since product design is very costly and time consuming, especially for the products which have high operating frequency, there is a great need to evaluate EMC/EMI in the design environment. This paper focuses on the design for EMC compliance for a Rugged Voice & Data Terminal. The minimization of the radiated and conducted emission is described from the design of PCB to manufacturing of whole unit.
