Abstract

The main characteristic of devices in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) concerns the limited resources. So, the energy and security aspects represent important fields of study due that they extremely affect the WSN behavior. With regard to the limited resource of nodes, the traditional security mechanisms are not the most suitable so new approaches have to be analysed in order to take into account this specific node characteristic. In this paper, a MAC layer energy drain attack is analysed and the performance evaluation are evaluated in a network composed of four sensor nodes, a gateway and a server in a LMAC and BMAC protocol in terms of average energy consumed for each node inside the considered WSN.
