Abstract
This paper presents a comparative analysis of coverage hole identification & healing techniques to detect and patch coverage holes in the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Coverage is a measure that shows how the target network is getting monitored. Any type of coverage hole lowers the quality and efficiency of supervision of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Anomalies in WSNs can weaken the network impeding their functionalities. In the world of IoT, WSNs play an important and integral role. Coverage holes may show in any region owing to random placement of sensor nodes in the field, power exhaustion of the sensor, or any damage. Coverage Holes problem, the reason behind the occurrence of holes, and various techniques to identify/patch these holes; their comparative soundness and limitations are discussed and elaborated.
