Abstract

Phase shifting transformers are an effective means of power flow control. As the structure of phase shifting transformer is different from that of traditional transformer, its differential protection has special characteristics. In this paper, six differential protection methods are proposed according to the structural characteristics of phase shifting transformers, the sensitivity and protection range of differential protection are analyzed, the influence of the installation position and configuration of current transformers on differential protection is studied, and the recommended protection scheme is given.
