Abstract

Effects of grooves on antenna performance parameters such as gain, VSWR, HPBW and SLL are investigated for aperture type Ku band antenna. The antenna has dual cavity step transition from WR75 waveguide with two grooves on the aperture plane. Simulations shows that groove shape plays an important role in antenna performance. With careful design of the grooves, performance of a single antenna matches to that of an two-element array antenna.
