It is a crucial need to find an optimal balance between digital and classical education. The response of linguodidactics to the growing trends of digitalization is to develop and implement effective models of using network resources in language education. The goal of the current research is to identify specific features of the students’ cognitive activity while working with network resources and, on this basis, to develop optimal techniques for the interaction with the information presented through the electronic medium. The revealed peculiarities of cognitive mechanisms involved into processing digital information allowed to develop a set of learning techniques contributing to the development of students’ skills in professionally-oriented communication in a foreign language. The article provides examples of exercises aimed at developing students’ abilities to highlight key points of information, organize, group and differentiate facts and phenomena, structure the obtained data, establish causal rela-tionships, carry out analytical and synthetic comprehension of language material presented through network resources. The experimental training proved that teaching techniques based on taking into account the specifics of interaction with information in a digital format contributes to the intensity of students' cognitive activity while mastering language material.
