Abstract
A low-profile, wideband circular polarized (CP) slot antenna based on a novel polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) is illuminated in this paper. The CP antenna is composed of a feeding slot antenna and a novel PCM with two axisymmetric patches. PCM realizes the 90 degrees polarization conversion reflection for the incident wave from 5.8 GHz to 7.2 GHz. The measured results showed that the CP antenna achieves good performance with a -10 dB bandwidth of 2.5 GHz (4.5–7 GHz) and an AR bandwidth of 1 GHz (5.3–6.3 GHz). In addition, the proposed antenna has good circular polarization characteristics, simple structure and low profile, which make it a viable candidate for C-band (4–8 GHz) application.
