Abstract
In this paper, a research attempt has been made on a two-area interconnected power system under deregulated scenario in automatic generation control (AGC) by integrating solar thermal system (STS), nuclear power system (NPS) and reheat thermal system (RTS). The performance of a PID controller abetted by fuzzy logic is tested and its superiority over PI controller, PID controller and Fuzzy PI controller is proved. The gains of controller are fine-tuned by a new optimization strategy called water cycle algorithm (WCA). The proposed model is inspected under poolco contract, bilateral contract and contract violation and a comparison is carried out with respect to overshoot, undershoot and settling time. The robustness of the proposed fuzzy PID (FPID) controller is confirmed under random load perturbation (RLP).
