Abstract
Following the effectuation of Kyoto Protocol in 2005, global warming began to receive a lot of attention worldwide and the role of green IT in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) has become an important global issue. Korea, a late starter in this business, has also implemented several strategies and policies mostly led by government. However, there is currently no inventory system in Korean telecommunication sector that can categorize the GHG sinks/emission sources and emission amount/removed amount and manage them during the total procedure. Hence, this paper examines the green IT activities of developed countries and available inventory guidelines, with a purpose of suggesting direction for establishing inventory that fits the domestic situation. Such inventory system will contribute to building a fundamental stone for low carbon green growth in Korea and expanding Korean green IT technological share in global market.
