All methods that used to improve the power quality with wind stations are presented and discussed in this paper. Abstract
At present, renewable energy sources are widely used all over the world. Electricity generation is actively increased on the basis of construction and integration of wind power plants into electric networks in the presence of energy storage systems and controlled shunt reactors. With the development of wind power plants and the development of a standard list of measures for the technological connection of wind power plants to the facilities of the electric grid, it is necessary to study the influence of the wind power plants on indicators of power quality, reliability, stability and operation modes of the power system. All methods that used to improve the power quality with wind stations are presented and discussed in this paper. Moreover, this paper presents a characterization of the electrical system of the Isla de la Juventud and the Los Canarreos wind farm in Cuba.
