Abstract

∗Trip generation and attraction is the key to traffic impact analysis for the Roll-on/roll-off passenger (Ro-Pax) terminal. However, for a Ro-Pax terminal, the trips of passengers and vehicles are driven by the arrival and departure of Ro-Pax ships, which is different from the conventional trip generation model. Therefore, we propose a simulation-based trip generation estimation for a Ro-Pax terminal considering the uncertainty of the passengers and vehicles’ arrivals. A simulation of the operation in the Ro-Pax terminal is established to simulate the Ro-Pax terminal operations with passengers and vehicles. Finally, taking the trip generation of a Ro-Pax terminal as an example, the results indicate that the proposed simulationbased estimation model is feasible and effective to evaluate the trip generation and attraction caused by the Ro-Pax terminal project.
