Newspaper Russkoye Slovo: Type of Publication, Structure, Literary and Journalistic Context (Based on the Issues of 1900–1905)

Abstract

This study analyzes the composition and content structure of the newspaper Russkoye Slovo from 1900–1905. The author determines the type of periodical in the system of printed journalism of the time, the reasons for its popularity and considers the policy of the publisher and the editorial board. Special attention is paid to the newspaper’s heading system and the forms of interaction between literature and journalism. The research is based on the analysis of specific materials, the author concludes that the interaction of these forms of literature occurs both immanently, due to the combination of elements of artistic and journalistic genres in one text, and contextually, due to the influence of the newspaper’s information field on the subject of literary works.
