Abstract

The present paper analyzes different three-level DC/DC converter control schemes. The main benefit of the three-level half-bridge inverter is the soft switching possibility without any additional components. A brief overview of different soft switching possibilities is given. Problems encountered and features are explained and simulated. An optimal solution for high input voltage (≥2 kV) and output power (≥20 kW) applications is proposed. The results are verified on a 50 kW prototype of the three-level half-bridge DC/DC converter.
