Abstract
Demosaicking is a process to determine missing colour values at each pixel when a single-sensor digital camera is used for colour image capture. In this paper, we derived new extrapolation equations to improve the accuracy of demosaicking by including higher order terms of the Taylor series. Our proposed method will produce four direction-oriented estimates of the missing colour value, which will consist of at least one highly accurate approximation for selection as the output. By avoiding interpolation across an edge, our method gives more accurate colour estimation around edges. It has been shown that our method outperforms other techniques in colour accuracy, particularly at the edges of an image.
