Abstract

We use coupled-mode theory to model Bragg gratings written in the photosensitive core area of index-guiding air-silica holey fibers. The plane-wave method is used to find the effective refractive indices and the field distributions of the modes. The dependence of the coupling coefficients on factors such as fiber cross-section geometry, area of the doped core and doping level is analyzed.
