Abstract
What do we mean by “addicted”? The Oxford English Dictionary defines it as: “(1) Delivered over devoted, destined, bound. (2) Attached by one's own act; given up, devoted, ... naturally attached bondage, which displaces free will.” It is a condition in which really objective self-examination does not and probably cannot guide our behavior.
