Abstract
The advances in the communication technology with high transmission rates together with the future (and present) needs of the users for integration and cooperative work stimulated the development of open service environments. This paper presents an implementation model for the management functions of the Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing (RM-ODP), proposed by the ISO, where distributed applications can be structured into capsules, clusters and basic engineering objects. A prototype of this model for the Sun OS environments, developed at UNICAMP, the University of Campinas, is described.
