Abstract
Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) architecture consider the vehicles in motion as nodes in the network, in which each node acts as an end-user as well as a router. The highly dynamic topologies in VANETs cause the end-to-end connection establishment to be difficult. Named Data Networking (NDN) is a future Internet architecture, which locates the requested content using the unique content names for effective content retrieval. The NDN properties have been adapted into VANETs for efficient content delivery and hence, named as Vehicular Named Data Networks (VNDN). Due to continuously moving vehicles in the network, unfulfilled Interest packets overflow may occur and hence resulting in network overloads. Hence, a various Interest forwarding strategies have been proposed for NDN enabled VANETs. The VNDN architecture along with the various Interest forwarding strategies for effective content retrieval are discussed.
