Abstract
The present paper presents a new way of stacking nano composite films with nano sized thermally evaporated chalcogenide films. Different ways of stacking and the optical properties of single layers and double-layered stacked films are discussed. The optical characterization has been done by analysing the transmittance (T) and reflectance (R) spectra in the spectral region 200-2000 nm. By stacking the thermally evaporated films on composite films, the band gap is found to be between the bandgap of thermally evaporated film and composite film. The refractive index has also increased with respect to the composite film. The change in band gap has lead to the change in optical parameters like dielectric constants, extinction coefficient, nonlinear properties etc. Studies show that the prepared variable wavelength stacked composite based chalcogenide films are found to be a promising candidate for IR filters used in portable miniaturized IR spectrometers, disposable chemical biological sensors etc.
