Abstract

When a massive multiprocessor, such as Graphics Processing Unit, is used for radar signal processing, it achieves its peak performance only with a large amount of data buffering. This causes a significant delay between the actual transmit-receive event and the appearance of detection and/or estimated parameters of an object at the processor output. The paper is aimed at assessing the influence of such latency on the tracking error in the case of rotating array radar. The analysis performed here may give a hint as to the optimization of the processing buffer size with respect to both the processing efficiency and the resulting tracking quality.
