Abstract

The technology of optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) has been considered as a competitive candidate for constructing future high-speed fiber-optic networks, especially the passive optical access networks (PON) since it has attractive features such as asynchronous access, dynamic bandwidth assignment, soft capacity on demand, transparency to network structure and overlaid protocol, abilities to support switching with multigranularity and multimedia services, privacy and security in transmission to some extent, etc.
