The model is a simple, fast and accurate alternative to the performance analyses of nodes in WDM Networks using both WDM-Wavelength and WDM-without Wavelength conversion system configurations, specifically when considering the blocking probability and the time delay. Abstract

The construction and configuration of nodes in WDM Networks requires an accurate analytical model that can rapidly forecast the performance of the system. To increase the performance of WDM system design, basic mathematical models have been investigated and presented. This article presents an analytical model that applies Little’s Theorem to analyze the performance of an intermediate node in a WDM Network. The intermediate nodes were analyzed using the WDM-Wavelength and WDM-without Wavelength conversion and Share Per Link (SPL) and Share per Node (SPN) configurations.
