A study on the activation plan to improve the professionalism of pre-service elementary teachers in physical education classes

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain basic data for improving the professionalism of physical education classes by analyzing various problems that appear in the physical education of pre-service elementary teachers. The participants in this study were sophomores with a total of 110 (36, female 74), who were pre-service elementary teachers at 00 University of Education. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, pre-service elementary teachers' perception of physical education classes showed a negative trend. As a result, it was found that anxiety factors for physical education classes were generated. Second, pre-service elementary teachers suggested the necessity of physical education classes that include fun and entertainment in various sports with the preference types of physical education sports. Third, pre-service elementary teachers said that they lack exercise tools and that it is difficult to use them during physical education classes, and active physical education classes are necessary regardless of the environment. Fourth, it was concluded that pre-service elementary teachers do not need self-management and specialized practical training to improve physical education professionalism. As a result of the above survey, it was concluded that pre-service elementary teachers had a strong negative perception of physical education classes, but lacked various professional learning and self-management to improve them. Therefore, it is judged that it is necessary to reorganize the curriculum for various pre-service elementary teachers in order to change their perception of physical education classes and to improve their professionalism.
