Abstract
Endotracheal intubation (ETI) is one of the most common procedures performed in the intensive care unit (ICU). It is also associated with a high incidence of complications. Indications for ETI include acute hypoxemic or hypercapnic respiratory failure, loss of protective reflexes, and inability to manage secretions.
