Due to the treatment techniques and dental materials used, the profession of dentistry is a health field that is greatly affected by technological developments. Especially in the last century, the development of artificial intelligence is capable of changing the routine clinical practice of dentistry. Artificial intelligence techniques have been tried to be integrated into all applications in dentistry since their first name was heard. Artificial intelligence algorithms that will minimize the margin of error, save time and cost in the diagnosis phase, treatment planning, and patient follow-up phases have yielded promising results in the studies. Especially in recent years, with the accelerated technological developments, techniques such as machine learning and deep learning, which were used in the first studies, have been replaced by artificial neural networks that imitate the human brain nervous system. Studies using artificial neural networks resulted in higher accuracy and were found to be more successful.
