Abstract
Using peer review as its framework, this study adopts a case study approach, recruiting students from department of Visual Communication and Design. It utilizes a self-developed web-based peer amendment system as a platform to observe students’ peer amendment behaviors and to further explore the influence of peer amendment on students’ design work and self-learning. The study also utilizes in-depth interviews with the students to investigate whether peer amendment activities can provide them with more ideas for later design work. The study results show that peer amendment activities can stimulate designers to experience more diverse performance with regards to creativity and can render their work more complete. The present study also finds that peer amendment is inspiring in the process of design, strengthening students’ decision-making abilities. If the power of peer learning can be efficiently utilized in design development stage, it can enhance creativity in each other’s design work.
