Abstract

In this paper, we propose a diversity system for mobile reception of digital terrestrial television broadcasting to solve the problem which a performance of maximum ratio combining (MRC) might become worse than that of single reception. The problem could occur at a certain situation which an input signal level from an antenna is much lower than one another. To solve the problem, in our diversity system, we introduce a new measure for deciding if a diversity gain is big enough. We have developed a diversity LSI and evaluate the proposed method. The experimental result shows our method improves the performance, in the case when input signal levels are very different.
