Abstract

Temporal databases are time-factor-enabled databases. This article explores ways to build temporal databases based on relational databases. Models of temporal data representation are considered. As a result of the analysis, conclusions were made on the most popular and convenient way to build a temporal database. Method is based on application of extension of relational model by time attributes. The main operations of temporal algebra are demonstrated.
