Abstract

A new national standard for digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB), which is fully backward compatible with the Eureka-147 system, has been developed in Korea to provide high quality digital audio, video and data broadcasting services in fixed, mobile and portable receivers. We have developed the world's first chipset for portable DMB receivers. We present a two-chip solution for the portable DMB receiver. One is a multimedia processor decoding the newest video standard, H.264, and the other is a channel processor. We describe the low-power high performance design and specification of this chipset.
