From Analog to Digital:

Abstract

After admitting that the immersion of Architecture in digital environment happened in the last decade of the XX Century, this paper argues about the (im)possible links established between analogical and digital worlds. Discarding the possibility of a “transition” between them, the paper points the existence of a “jump” that, more than to tie, unlinks them leaving an emptiness that has to be analyzed. Coexisting in this emptiness we find hybrid structures of pragmatic approach, ruptures of paradigms and sprouting of new forms to project and to make architecture. Clarify this panorama is a basic task we need to do before facing the future, not only in a professional way, but also in the field of architectural education, because we have to know which architecture we desire to transmit.
