Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop new room temperature vulcanization (RTV) silicone rubber nanocomposites for application to outdoor polymer insulator. This paper deals with effects of addition of nano-scale boehmite filler on tracking, erosion resistance and arcing resistance of silicone rubber. The inclined plane test and the arc resistance test were performed. As a result, it was elucidated that the addition of small amount of nano-boehmite filler is able to increase tracking, erosion and arcing resistance.
