Abstract
In this paper, a new type RV dispenser cathode is developed as it is capable of meeting the growing requirements concerning life and current density. This kind of RV dispenser cathode shows the higher emission current density and longer lifetime than that of convention dispenser cathodes. Temperature and current accelerated life test are used to evaluate the new type cathodes. At present, the results for temperature accelerated life test show that predicted life of the RV dispenser cathodes exceeds 260,000 hours at a current density of 1.5A/cm2 at 980°C.
