Education and Human Resource Development

Abstract

As many African countries strive to achieve sustainable socio-economic development and peace following seasation of armed conflicts in many areas, education has been underscored as the gateway and cornerstone. Educational reforms have been highlighted as key component for post conflict development and youth marginalization especially if these reforms are focused on eliminating some of the causes of conflict. There has been a marriage between educational expansion and economic development geared toward creation of job opportunities. In this vein many African countries have in the last three decades defined and redefined their national goals of education, and many of them have done vigorous curricula review at all levels of their education systems.
