Abstract
In this paper the polarization properties of the indoor radio channel are investigated. By means of a ray tracing approach different combinations of polarization of antennas at the transmitter as well at the receiver end of the communication link are compared with respect to statistics of the channel gain varying due to multipath propagation. Diffuse scattering is taken into account by a single parameter derived from measurements. Some practical consequences for wireless short range communication in smart home applications at around 1 GHz will be given and the results confirm a former measurement campaign.
