Abstract
The paper presents an acquisition and monitoring system to collect the operating parameters of a vehicle and to send them to a web server over the Internet, also called a Remote Monitoring System (RMS). The hardware module is based on Arduino MKR development platform, which collects data from different Electronic Control Units (ECUs) through the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus of the vehicle and geographical location from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. The connection to the web server is made via the GSM/GPRS network and the parameters are sent using the Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. The received data are stored in a database using the CSV format files. The server has a web interface for users login, for viewing and interpreting the parameters values, and it offers various graphs to facilitate vehicle analysis over time. More measurements and tests were performed on a stationary testing platform for Electric Vehicles (EVs), the database being particular for this kind of vehicles.
