Abstract

The rapid development of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has increased its application in the military, industry, medical, and environment. Coverage improvement is one of the main issue in WSN deployment. Maximum coverage ensures a better utility of the WSN. This paper considers the use of Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (Discrete PSO) algorithm to deal with optimal deployment problem in non-convex region. Simulation results show that the Discrete PSO algorithm leads to performance improvement compared with random sensor deployment.
