Abstract

This paper presents an application and comparison between two techniques, the Hilbert-Huang and Stockwell transforms, to extract the characteristic data from two terminals and use them with the traveling wave theory for fault location in a 200 km long transmission line between two voltage sources. The MATLAB/Simulink® software was used to simulate different fault conditions and analyze the voltage signals, through the programmed algorithm, to calculate the fault location.
