The most frequent grammatical structures and patterns of evaluative utterances in English discourse are considered. Sociolinguistic factors, such as social status / role, gender, the ranking of the imposition are described. The components of the semantic structure of evaluative utterances, necessary for the realization of successful communication, are also determined. Abstract
The article contains the results of the analysis of the role of discursive-pragmatic peculiarities of evaluative utterances in British and American English.
