The COVID-19 Pandemic: What About Air Pollution?

Abstract

A new coronavirus was recently discovered named the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). After it's first outbreak in China, Covid-19 is now a pandemic affecting several countries worldwide. In our paper we discuss the impact of atmospheric air pollution on the coronavirus outbreak and nation's health. The link between air pollution and the development of the disease in several countries was also investigated and it was proven that high polluted areas are most affected by the disease. The mortality and the recovery rate in the top ten affected countries by Covid-19 are compared to the mortality rate of air pollution in 2017. Obviously, Air pollution caused by human's daily activities ranks as a higher mortality factor than Covid-19.
