Abstract

This paper provides an analysis and design of DC-DC (direct current) buck converter used in photovoltaic (PV) system. Two different examples of buck converter for low voltage application (12 V and 5 V) have been designed by using equations resulting from the analysis of buck circuit. The complete proposed system including PV module and the designed converters have been constructed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results demonstrated that the converters reached a regulated and lower output voltage within a short time (0.006 sec).
