Abstract

This paper focusses on the experimental testing of a sliding mode controller designed for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). A cascade control scheme is proposed which provides accurate speed and position tracking performance. The controller is experimentally tested on a commercial PMSM drive. Reported experimental evidence shows that the proposed controller produces good speed and position trajectory tracking performance and is robust in the presence of disturbances affecting the system.
