Abstract

A new geometrical model of divisional rough surface is established for simulating the surface of mountainous region. The Gaussian spectrum is applied to represent the statistic properties of mountainous surface. The modeling theory of divisional rough surface is introduced. Two modeling methods for constructing the borderline are given. what's more, the iterative physical optics (IPO) is utilized to obtain the monostatic radar cross-section (RCS) of the divisional rough surface. Several unique phenomena and useful conclusions can be obtained, which can be widely used in remote sensing simulations of mountainous region.
