Abstract

A simple, low-cost, space-saving and precise current balancing method for the multi-output flyback lighting emitting diode (LED) driver is proposed in this paper. This method is based on capacitor charge balancing and can be easily extended to N-output application. This method is insensitive to the component tolerance and can balance the currents of each output automatically even for different load voltages and transformer turns. The operation principle of the proposed method is analyzed in this paper. Experimental results from a three-channel flyback prototype verify the theoretical analysis.
